The Oculus has good utility, making it a great sorc farming weapon. The best place to farm Gull is off Coldcrow in the Caves (Cold Plains, Act 1) this is the only reliable place to get the blade drop in Normal. That will also raise its minimum iLvl to 51. The two-socketed Blade of Ali Baba can be fit with 2 Ist runes, raising its MF by 60%. Here are some other weapon items, in order from highest to lowest MF. While this will work fine for some, it may be too much MF and not enough other stats to work well. It's a Normal socketed weapon with 6 slots set with 6 Ist Runes (180%). The weapon with the highest possible MF isn't Unique or Set. Many items also have traits based on character level (cLvl), and these are noted. These will include Runewords, Uniques, and Set items. iLvl is based on the mob that dropped it, so the higher the mob, the more likely you will get the maximum number of sockets.Īll the primary gear choices presented have at least 30% Magic Find added. There are Horadric Cube recipes to add Sockets to Normal quality items, Magic weapons, or Rare items, but the recipes can be expensive. Some Magic, Rare, Set, and Unique items will already have sockets when you find them. However, this isn't always the very best strategy for Magic Find sometimes a great Rare, Set, or Unique item in the same slot with sockets fitted with Perfect Topazes or Ist runes (depending on the gear type) will get you better Magic Find. If you're using Runewords for these four slots, you'll be using Normal-quality socketed gear by necessity. There are only four types of gear that can have sockets: Chest Armor, Head Armor, Shields, and Weapons. Since Perfect Topazes are fairly common (you can get your first one through diligent combining before you leave Normal), you'll want to use those in Helms or Body Armor. They give 25% MF in Chest Armor, Helms, or Shields. These give 30% MF, but only when inserted into a weapon slot. The Ist rune, which has a minimum iLvl/cLvl of 51, starts dropping in Hell difficulty. While these can go in any slot, they only offer Magic Find when placed in Helms or Body Armor. If the jewel has other great properties on it, by all means use it, but there are better choices for sockets in Magic Find sets. If you somehow got an Emerald Jewel of Prosperity with top rolls, the best you'd still get is 17% MF. It can have an Emerald prefix, which can add 3-7%, or the Prosperity suffix, which gives 5-10%. Jewels are probably not worth considering for Magic Find sets because the maximum amount of Magic Find you can get on a rare-quality Jewel is below what you can get on the next best option. There are three types of items that can go into Sockets that can add to Magic Find: Jewels, Gems, and Runes. Magic or Rare Amulets, Boots, Circles, Gloves Magic Rings Magic or Rare Amulets, Boots, Circles, Gloves, Rings It is possible for an item to roll with both a MF prefix and suffix, but those are rare and would be restricted by item quality and gear type. You might find a high-roll Magic or Rare item that beat anything you can get in other items for that slot. Some only occur in Magic items, where only a maximum of 1 prefix/1 suffix is possible, and can be found on either Magic or Rare items (which can have up to 6 properties). A Magic Find random property is limited only to Amulets, Circlets, Rings, Boots, and Gloves, and not all of them apply to all types or quality levels. On Magic or Rare items, there is a chance to get either a Prefix or Suffix that gives a boost to Magic Find. This does not include Charms those are handled in a separate section below.
